Assalamoalykum

The name N.W.F.P will have to be changed inshallah because the Pukhtun nation has chosen to change it.
what is your suggestions for the best name.

I think we should just call it Pukhtun because istan isnt a pukhto word and i dont like khwa because it sounds as being sidelined.
or i like the anciant name of Khurasaan which has been mentioned in the Hadith regarding the rising of the Pukhtun Nation and khur means spread and asaan means easy in pukhto...so i choose:

1. Pukhtun

2. khurasaan

dunya kamzay na kamzay waraseda ao moonga was pooray baday khabooro kay naast wo..... huh........ sorry to say but i find such issues really nonsence cuz there r yet other problems to be solved out except for struggling and fighting for name to be changed AS if it will bring development in Pukhtons or bring sum other positive change.. i know Name is imp as its an identity but... i duno wat 2 say.. anyways.. I wish pukhtuns choose sumthing serious to get it changed !!!

Thank you for your opinion i appreciate your concerns about development..the main reason that our province hasn't developed is that the central government has been robbing our N.W.F.P government of Billions of Rupees per year and former provincial  governments didn't bother about the volume of Budget the N.W.F.P was receiving accept filling their own pockets.

what has been achieved by them in a few years than what was not in the past 50 years by other N.W.F.P provincial governments:

1. Allocated Rs 956.429 million for new schemes for the development of the provincial metropolis, adding that Rs 5082.921 million was already being spent on current ongoing schemes.

2.the volume of the provincial budget was less than Rs 50 billion when the MMA took power in November 2002, adding that his party had taken the budget up to Rs 100 billion.

3. the MMA government has prioritised the education and health sectors. The present government has made education free till 10th grade and it now plans to extend free education up to the intermediate level.

4. record is far better in the health sector than all previous governments, which includes provision of free medicine worth Rs 25,000 to the poor every month.

5.Frontier chief minister was drawing a salary of Rs 19,000 as compared to the Balochistan CM who was earning Rs 35,000, the Sindh CM earning 35,000 and the Punjab CM earning Rs 39,000. Similarly, NWFP ministers have been receiving monthly salaries of Rs 17,000 as compared to Balochistan’s ministers Rs 30,000, Sindh’s 30,000 and Punjab’s 35,000, he added. “We did not increase the CM or the ministers’ salaries because we wanted to save money that we could spend on the welfare of the poor,”

not going into too much detail but from the above you can see we were robbed more than Rs50 Billion per year..thanks to MMA who achieved to get this money back for each year since 2002..and even more can be achieved. 


hasi N&N taraqi ba soak senga weki while the central government in Punjab has been robbing our province for 50 years..enough is enough..we should demand all that is due that way we can move forward that means even basic rights of a name for the province...ka se nom de khwakh sho ne dalta ye post ka..merabani (smile).

Frontier Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani has told various delegations at the Governor’s House that the Muttahida Majlis-e-Aamal’s provincial government was considering to make a high-level committee to propose whether or not to rename the North West Frontier Province Pakhtunkhwa or any other name which the people of the province would suggest.

He said, “It is important to give the province a proper identity.” He said people from all over the province would be asked to propose a new name for the province. CM Durrani said the province remained without a “proper name” since independence in 1947. He, however, criticised politicians for exploiting the situation for their own interest.

The Awami National Party and other nationalist groups have asked successive governments to name the province Pakhtunkhwa but pro-centre (political) groups, mainly the Pakistan Muslim League, oppose the name saying other ethnic groups might feel ‘irritated’ and ‘insecure’.

Dear brother

Khurasan is a distant name as it is geographically the area weat of Ghore mountains (Hindukush) and reaches the Eastern shores of Caspian Sea. Its main cities were Herat, Nishabore (Nishapur), Toos (Meshed), Merv etc. Our NWFP lies even  East of Suleman range. So  name of Khurasan although very romantic, is not correct for NWFP. We have no other historical name but Pukhtoonkhwa.

    Nice and naughty I don't know u r M OR FM, I am new in hujra may be that's why but any way U said that where the world has been reached and what r we doing, u know what we have to start it from the base. When you born u know what ur mom and papa did they chose a name for u.  we wana emerge from a new base which will be strong and united; and pukhtun is absalutly right, A NAME HAS A BIG AFFECT ON A COUNTRY.

       I will choose a name of "PUKHTUNISTAN", first it means land of pukhtuns and second we do have words from Arabic and Farsi in our language so it doesn't matter. I also I do like PUKHTUNKHWA it sounds great.

I rather go for Afghania. Why ? Most people in this Province belong to Afghan race and may have adopted other languages..though majority are still pashto speaking but the name Pakhtunkhwa will not gain majority support from the people of the province.. By that Afghania is the best choice.
